Our dedicated engineering teams will be performing two rounds of load testing on all inbound traveller requests from Skyscanner to our flight partners API's. In addition to real user requests, we will also be adding synthetic traffic – representative of real traveller queries based on historical data- to test that our systems and partners can accommodate growth during anticipated peak traffic e.g. summer travel period.
Overall, we expect to send approximately an extra 20% of our current real peak traffic.
We plan on conducting load tests in the EMEA region to ensure we can support peaks of traffic. The load test for each EMEA region will occur through the following IP's on the date and times below:
Monday 15th April 11am-4pm BST
Tuesday 16th April 11am-4pm BST
1. When will the testing take place?
Between 11am and 4pm BST on Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 April.
2. Why are you running these tests?
As mentioned above, Skyscanner wants to ensure that our systems and our partners' systems can continue to operate a high level of service and that the traveller experience is optimised during peak traffic periods.
3. Why are you including synthetic traveller requests?
By adding these series of requests, it will allow our teams to identify any potential issues and corresponding solutions ahead of anticipated traveller growth during peak traffic periods. This will also help Skyscanner ensure that we continue to offer the best experience for our travellers.
4. How will partners be affected by these tests?
During the testing period, please expect your API to see a gradual increase in the number of requests from Skyscanner to retrieve prices. Please note however that partners will not see a corresponding increase in redirects.
5. When will my services return to normal?
Following the conclusion of the test at 4pm BST, partners should see services return to normal.
6. Will you be sharing your findings with partners?
Whilst there are no plans to issue an external report, if we identify specific issues with any partners, our dedicated Partner Success Management team will be in touch directly.
We encourage partners to log in to the Partner Portal during the testing period, as you will have the ability to monitor the volume of live requests.
Please make note of this date and information. Feel free to contact us on this form if you have any questions or concerns.
