What is it?
The Skyscanner Value Score is a quantitative and qualitative rating we attribute to the quotes we receive from our partners. They are designed to help our users understand just how much is included in the deal they are looking at so that they can make better and more informed decisions.
How it works…
Our Value Scores are based on the presence/absence of a set of inclusions we source from our partner's API response.
It is important to note that each category is weighted when calculating the value score therefore a spread of inclusions is required when aiming for a high value score.
For example, the presence of a Fair Fuel policy (Full to Full, Same to Same, Quarter to
Quarter, etc) will increase a quote’s value and thus add to its Value Score, whereas its absence will hurt the Value Scores users will see on our page, limiting the maximum Value Score a given quote can get on our site.
How will it affect our results from now on?
Currently our results are still sorted on price. Customers who use Skyscanner will be able to decide how much the presence or absence of these factors influences their choice of a rental car.
