Travel Insight Report is a product that delivers insightful data feeds of Skyscanner’s traffic to our partners. Over the past years, we’ve learnt a lot about the trends of travel traffic as Skyscanner grows to be a dominant player in the Travel Metasearch industry. We’ve come to understand that access to our data can help inform decisions about how to optimise and invest in solutions to help make travel cheaper and more relevant to everyone.
The data provided in Travel Insight consist of both searches and exits on the Skyscanner search platform and is available as a CSV delivered on a daily basis to the partner/clients' SFTP server or Amazon S3 bucket.
By offering a forward view of market trends - based on what is being searched for, not booked - we are able to view unconstrained demand for routes at a global scale in addition to understanding the impact of pricing on partners' SoV.
As part of Travel Insights, we provide the following:
- 2 data types: Searches and Exits to understand user interests and intentions for travelling
- The data we send to partners are filterable so that the data we send can be more relevant
- We offer historical data backfilling for partners who need more data to gather insights for yearly/monthly trends
Travel Insight data is captured at 2 levels to provide a comprehensive market view:
We have 2 different kinds of data, searches and redirects/exits. They are essential to understanding the intent of the customers when they search and consider suitable itineraries. Each of them will be delivered as separate files to the partners on a daily basis by 10AM UTC.
|When users search on Skyscanner website or day view, search events are generated and this data indicates the user intentions of where they are searching to||When users click out to go to an OTA or Airline website, that is considered an exit, or a redirect. This information indicates the type, price and features of itineraries such as airline and flight details of what the user is interested to click on.|
We provide filtering on certain fields so that partners can receive data that is more relevant to them. The filterable fields for searches and redirects are:

Partners can sign up for data of searches and exits that were recorded before they signed up. Travel Insights v4 was launched in 1 Sep 2017, and thus there are 2 different versions of historical data.

File Size Reference
The following are the file sizes of the extracts that will be delivered to the partner. All files will be compressed when sent, and the partner will have to uncompress the files themselves. All the sizes mentioned below are exclusive of any filtering done. If the subscription is configured to filter or show less number of fields, do expect the filesize to be smaller.
