Share Credentials Securely with Skyscanner

To securely share your credentials with Skyscanner, you will first receive from one of our team members a 1Password link with a key. 

Please encrypt a .txt file with your authentication details or access credentials using the provided encryption key, and send the encrypted file back to us using the same Zendesk thread we will open with you. 

Once we receive your encrypted .zip file, we’ll be ready to proceed. Please avoid sharing unencrypted secrets through email or other unsecured channels.

How to create an encrypted ZIP file 

A.1) On Windows (natively)

1. Compress the file:
   1. Select the file you want to compress and encrypt to share with us
   2. Right-click on the files to open a new menu.
   3. Select "Send to" from this new menu.
   4. Click "Zip folder (compressed)" from the new menu.
   5. Wait a few moments while the files compress into a new zip folder.
2. Encrypt the file:
   1. Right-click on the zip file you want to encrypt. Alternately, you can press and hold on the file when using touch-enabled devices.

2. Select "Properties" from the new menu and click "Advanced."
3. Choose the "Encrypt Contents to Secure Data Box" option
4. Click "OK" to close the window and choose "Encrypt the file and its parent folder."
5. Use the provided encryption key.

A.2)On Windows 11 (using 7-Zip)

Windows 11 does not come with a native tool for creating and encrypting a ZIP file.

1. Download and install 7-Zip from 7-zip.org.
2. Right-click the file or folder you wish to compress.
3. Select 7-Zip > Add to archive…
4. In the dialog box, configure:
   • Archive format: ZIP
   • Encryption method: AES-256
   • Enter a strong password
5. Click OK to create the encrypted ZIP file.

 

B.1)On macOS (using Terminal)

1. Open Terminal.
2. Run:

zip -e filename.zip file_or_folder
 

1. Replace filename.zip with your desired file name and file_or_folder with the actual item.
2. Enter and confirm the password when prompted.

B.2)Alternative on macOS (using Keka):

1. Download Keka for free from https://d.keka.io/

2. Open Keka and choose ZIP as the format.
3. Set a password in the encryption section.
4. Drag and drop your file or folder into the Keka window to generate the encrypted ZIP.
