Overview
The Missing Quote Finder (MQF) bypasses Skyscanner's cache and queries your pricing systems directly. This means results in MQF may differ from what users currently see on the live Skyscanner site or apps; this is expected behaviour, not an error.
Why MQF and Skyscanner live site can differ
Missing Quote Finder (MQF) performs a fresh, real-time API call to the partner each time you search. This allows us to display the detailed filtering details, and it always shows the most up-to-date quotes available right now.
Skyscanner’s traveller-facing systems may serve cached results, depending on the cache and pricing freshness. As this caching helps optimise the traveller experience, there can be a delay before newly available quotes appear on the live site.
This means:
MQF may show a quote that the live site currently does not
The live site may show a quote that reflects a slightly older response
What to do if MQF shows a quote, but the live site doesn't
This is a normal and expected difference. It means:
Your pricing system is returning the quote correctly
Skyscanner's live site is currently serving a cached response that doesn't yet include it
No action is needed; the quote will appear on the live site once the cache refreshes
Example: If a flight appears in MQF but not on the Skyscanner live site, this confirms the flight is available in your system. The live site will show it once its short cache clears.
When to escalate
Scenario | What it means | Action |
|---|---|---|
MQF shows a quote, the live site doesn't | Cache is temporarily stale | Wait for cache to refresh |
Neither the MQF nor the live site shows the quote | Potential connectivity or availability issue | Raise a support ticket to Skyscanner Partner Services |
