Being able to understand what travellers see and do across both Skyscanner and your website is advantageous for both parties; by analysing the data produced we can both optimise our offerings to provide a better service for travellers. In Skyscanner we refer to the the ability to understand what travellers see and do on your website as "Downstream Visibility".
The data fields we are collect are mainly for the following 2 purposes:
SAT
Skyscanner has an existing solution in this area called 'SAT' (Skyscanner Analytics Tag). Due to advances in browser privacy technologies and the ability to provide data to Skyscanner more reliably, this solution is gradually being replaced. If you already use 'SAT' in your website, it will eventually be replaced but please do not make any alterations to your existing 'SAT' integration until instructed by Skyscanner.
We now offer partners the opportunity to install Downstream Visibility.
Why should you install Downstream Visibility?
Travelers use Skyscanner because they trust that they will see fast, accurate and comprehensive results when they search. The accuracy of those results is particularly important, with changes between the prices seen on Skyscanner and the prices seen when landing on a partner's website being one of the most common reasons users get in touch with our support teams. Low accuracy is also one of the biggest drivers for poor Partner Quality Scores.
With Downstream Visibility, you will be able to understand whether the price information is consistent with what you offer on Skyscanner’s website as the solution offers visibility of the whole journey from redirect to conversion. This helps us to understand if the price is accurate not only at landing page, but also in the following steps and if the final price paid by user is still consistent. You can observe and evaluate your price accuracy performance, providing the necessary insights to enhance user experience and improve conversion rates.

How to install Downstream Visibility?
You have the option to implement either:
-
1st party tag - events are sent directly from the traveller's device to Skyscanner's servers
-
Pixel solution - events are sent directly from the traveller's device to Skyscanner's servers
-
Server-to-Server solution - events are sent directly from your servers to Skyscanner's servers
DV supports three integration solutions (S2S/Tag/Pixel),providing a choice of methods with different level of complexity.
A full documentation will be provided at the beginning of work on the integration.
